What kinds of things might I be asked to do?
A partial list of volunteer possibilities includes:
Helping with Newlin events, both staff appreciation and school-wide events, classroom project support, PTO assistance, school supply drives, duty-free lunch monitoring
Helping with classroom and individual student needs – field trip support, winter coats, (needs are identified to the Partnership by Newlin staff)
Helping with Newlin Partnership events and fundraisers
Do I get to choose what I would like to help with?
Yes, you can choose where you wish to contribute your time and energies according to what you think best fits your interests and talents.
How much time would I be expected to give?
This would depend upon which volunteer spot you choose, since some are one-and-done, and others are recurring. An example is “duty-free lunch,” which happens once a month during the school year. It’s a time when volunteers monitor students during lunchtime to give teachers a break from that responsibility. You could volunteer your time once a year or volunteer every month.
Would I have a regular schedule for volunteering, or would it be every once in a while?
This would depend on what volunteer spot you choose and its particular scheduling criteria. Both types of volunteer schedules are possible.
What kinds of skills or background do I need?
The Newlin Partnership seeks people who joyously wish to contribute time and talents to make a difference in a child’s life Current Newlin Partnership staff and other volunteers are always available to offer guidance and training when appropriate. Volunteers of all backgrounds are welcome.
Do I have to belong to the Church of the Holy Comforter?
Newlin Partnership volunteers come from a wide variety of sources. Some are parishioners and others come from the community at large. There are no membership requirements. All are welcome.
